Lesson 9 — Pot-up & liner handoff

Goal: Define “ready to pot,” transplant consistently, and reduce post-pot losses.

Ready-to-pot spec

• Roots visible on multiple sides/bottom
• Plug holds together when lifted
• No slime, no sour smell, no active rot
• Foliage firm (not wilt-prone)

Pot-up SOP

1. Pre-water trays so plugs lift cleanly.
2. Handle gently; avoid tearing roots.
3. Plant to correct depth; firm lightly.
4. Water-in thoroughly.
5. Provide 24–72 hours of protection if needed (shade/wind).
