Lesson 2 — Sanitation & Exclusion

Goal: reduce disease pressure and pest introduction with systems, not heroics.

Daily / weekly hygiene

• Remove dead leaves and culls every day (they are disease factories).
• Keep walkways dry and clean (algae = slip hazard + gnat habitat).
• Disinfect pruners between blocks/crops when disease is present.
• Keep propagation area “clean zone” (no dirty carts, no storage).

Exclusion basics

• Quarantine incoming material
• Weed control around production blocks
• Keep potting media covered and dry
