Lesson 7 — Deficiency/Toxicity Troubleshooting

Goal: diagnose correctly before you “throw fertilizer at it.”

Common patterns

  • General yellowing + poor growth: low N or root issues
  • Interveinal chlorosis (new leaves): iron/manganese availability (often pH)
  • Burned leaf edges: salts / drought stress / EC too high

Process

  1. Check irrigation uniformity and drainage
  2. Measure media pH/EC
  3. Review recent changes (heat, spacing, water schedule)
  4. Then adjust nutrition
