Lesson 1 — Water Quality & Testing
Goal: know what your irrigation water is doing to pH and salts.
What to test
- pH
- Alkalinity (key driver of pH drift)
- EC
- Hardness, iron, sodium, chloride (as relevant)
Why alkalinity matters
- High alkalinity pushes media pH up over time.
- Acid injection may be needed for acid-loving crops.
Do this: Create a “Water Report” folder and keep every test result. Re-test seasonally.
