Lesson 2 — Substrates/Media: Choosing & Handling

Goal: choose a consistent media and keep it consistent (moisture, mixing, storage).

Media must do

• Drain well (oxygen to roots)
• Hold enough water between irrigations
• Be consistent batch to batch

Operational rules

• Store media covered (rain changes it).
• If mixing, mix by volume and keep notes.
• Pre-moisten if needed for uniform filling.
